1971 – 1996 | Professor of Molecular Microbiology
As professor of Molecular Biology from 1971 to 1996, Werner Arber was one of the founding professors, active in research and teaching at the Biozentrum. In 1978 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Prof. Arber was the rector of the University of Basel, a long-term member and vice-president of the Swiss Science Council and president of the International Council for Science.
